Driving test centres waiting times across Ireland
Are you hoping to take a test in either Wilton or Mallow driving test centres? You might have seen the news that driving test waiting times are over 30 weeks in places. The Irish Times says there are over 50,000 learner drivers eligible to sit their test but who are either waiting for test slots or who have just received an invitation to book one!
Across Ireland the average driving test waiting time for learner drivers is 19 weeks! In some areas the wait is an incredible 30+ weeks! That’s over 7 months.
Driving test centres waiting times in Wilton and Mallow
The good news for learner drivers in Mallow and Cork is that the waiting times are slightly shorter at the moment. At the time of writing (January 2023) the estimated weeks to invitation for person who applies today by driving test centre are:
- 17 weeks at Cork (Wilton)
- 13 weeks at Mallow (Cork race course)
These waiting times are certainly better than many other test centres across Ireland. But there is still 3-4 months for an invite if you plan to use either Cork (Wilton) or Mallow driving test centre. Some other positive news is that the RSA is taking efforts to cut the waiting time. It recently launched a recent recruitment campaign to increase permanent staff in the Driver Testing Service.
